across 16,461 polling stations will decide the fate of 418 candidates. Of them,
61 are crorepatis, 80 have criminal cases against them and 65 of them are
facing serious cases related to murder and rape.

Updated:-Police received an FIR against 20 persons with a complaint of killing
Mandal. Police detained 25 persons for a
clash between supporters of two opposition parties in Domkal area. Police
arrested 169 persons. 63 of them were from Kolkata. Police arrested 52 persons from
Belaghata area only.

said that Mr Anwar Khan who made an insulting
remark against commission, was arrested by police. Anwar was seen telling his
supporters on phone to throw shoe at Commission. A total of 50 arrest and
detention was reported till 1.45 p.m. Swapan Chakraborty and Anwar Khan were
under surveillance by Commission.
Three persons were injured at Ketugram of Bardhaman
after an explosion.A CPIM supoorter was beaten up by TMC supoorter in Chakdaha
in the district of Nadia.CPIM polling agents were beaten up by TMC supporters
in Gayeshpur in the district of Nadia. Polling agents were driven out by TMC cadres in Beleghata and Kashipur of
Kolkata and Ketugram of Bardhaman. One TMC worker was beaten by opposition.The
most unfortunate event that hurt the people of West Bengal is the death of a
CPIM worker, Tahidul Islam, killed in Domkal in Murshidabad.TMC candidate Samik
Hussain said that the man died of a tension between Congress and CPIM.
“The SP of Murshidabad states that the person whose
body was found in Domkal in the district is not a polling agent of any party.
The report states that cutting wounds with sharp weapons were found on the body
which was found about 500 metres away from a polling booth,” said Additional Chief Electoral Officer Dibyebdu
Sarkar.
